Today: Ring the bell.

This weekend I found myself goin’ to the chapel, because my brother’s getting ma-a-a-ried. And because his future wife is so great, we needed to celebrate her at least one more time before their big day.
My mom hosted a little shower at this adorable former chapel on the edge of Foxborough State Forest. I immediately spied a thick, braided rope leading up to a little hole in the ceiling. I know a Quasimoto moment when I see it. We waited until most of the guests left before going to town. It was amazing. The shower was absolutely lovely, too.
We went back to my parents’ house for a little while and did what any Irish American family might on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We harvested potatoes. Gross stereotyping aside, we really did harvest potatoes. I felt like I was getting in touch with my roots, but what I thought was a potato root, was actually a slug. I hesitated but a minute before digging back into the pile of Earth for more. Is there anything more marvelous? My dad has quite the green thumb.
I love life in the city, but I also love being able to escape every now and then to spend time with my family. You know, to ring bells and harvest potatoes and sit in lawn hampers with them.

So, because I am currently home sick, I clicked on the “Clark” link above and found myself watching numerous videos of your pup… What a character! The guy sure does like carrots!

It’s really quite astonishing I haven’t been locked up for animal abuse yet. Fortunately, Clark seems to enjoy all the outfits and pup-a-razzi action. Hope you’re having a good day!

That’s awesome that your dad grows his own potatoes! It’s something I really want to try one day.
