Today: Troll alert!

The weather was so lovely this weekend, I couldn’t resist a little  exploring.  On my way home to visit my parents on Saturday, I stopped at Victory Road Park in Dorchester, sandwiched right between the bay and the Expressway.

The park is accessible by a little footbridge; it’s dog-friendly, and quite pretty.

It’s one of those places you might spot from the highway, and wonder, “How do you get down there?” Or maybe you’re a better driver than me, and you keep your eye on the road.

Clark and I walked the shoreline, went up and over the hill and made certain to stop and smell the dandelions on our way back to the parking lot.

I was about to cross the bridge, but Clark kept pulling toward the water.  I’m a Pisces, so I figured, why not?

We followed a little path down to the bank, where Clark did his best to eat seaweed and nearly went in over his giant head (thank you, leash), and just then, I spotted it… this suspicious looking ladder, leading beneath the bridge.

This ladder can mean only one thing.  Someone’s living under the bridge, and clearly that someone is..

..a troll!  Just ask the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Speaking of Trolls, how creepy were those toys?  I can’t believe we actually liked those things.  We used to carry them around in our backpacks, and twist their hair into bouffants.  I am sure there are still a few lurking at my parents’ house, though I am not sure the groom Troll we mailed to my sister in Australia ever made it back.

While Andrea was studying abroad, my mom put together a care package for her and included a few things she had left behind, including a certain sweatshirt.   Ever the schemers, my younger brother and I tucked a troll with blue hair dressed as a groom (Trolls get married too, you know!) into one of the pockets.  Weeks passed, and Andrea still hadn’t found the “surprise” we included.  Apparently her roommate had been unknowingly toting the tuxedoed troll around Sydney in the pocket of that sweatshirt.

At this point, I’m just trolling for things to write about, so I am going to go ahead and stop myself.  You’re welcome.
