Hood Cottage Cheese Challenge: 3 Snack Ideas

This post is sponsored by Hood Cottage Cheese.

I love a good challenge almost as much as I love snacking.  With the summer in full swing, I feel like we’ve been surrounded by snacks.  At the same time, I’m chasing two kids up and down the beach, spending mornings at the playground, and fitting in a spin class or workout whenever nap time allows.  Summer is definitely our family’s high energy (and favorite!) season.  I have partnered with Hood Cottage Cheese to create my own snack challenge and replace three of my usual snacks with protein-packed Hood Cottage Cheese.

I’m hopeful you’ll find these swaps to be just as easy, delicious, and satisfying as I do.

HOOD COTTAGE CHEESE CHALLENGE: 3 SNACK IDEAS

SAVORY HERB + VEGETABLE DIP WITH HOOD COTTAGE CHEESE

Add chopped fresh herbs (I snipped a handful from our little deck garden) to your favorite savory variety of Hood Cottage Cheese (I love the Cucumber + Dill) and serve with vegetables or crackers.

In this dip, cottage cheese is a great swap for traditional sour cream dips, as it is higher in protein and lower in saturated fat than sour cream.  The Cucumber + Dill variety of Hood Cottage Cheese is great on its own, or you can get creative by adding your favorite herbs and spices to their plain cottage cheeses.

HOOD COTTAGE CHEESE ON TOAST

Top toast with Hood Lowfat Cottage Cheese, halved cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and cracked black pepper.  You could also use an English muffin or rice cake in place of the toast.  By adding cottage cheese to my usual toast, I get plenty of extra flavor, protein, and the benefit of a more satisfying breakfast or snack to hold me over to the next meal.  This is one of my favorite post-workout options.

DESSERT PARFAIT WITH HOOD COTTAGE CHEESE

Layer your favorite sweet variety of Hood Cottage Cheese with fresh fruit, granola, and perhaps even a chocolate chip… or six.  For this sweet treat, I layered Hood 4% Cottage Cheese with Honey and Pear with sliced pears, gluten free granola, and dark chocolate chips.  It satisfies my sweet tooth while still being a great choice, health-wise.  Plus, it is lower in sugar, calories, and saturated fat (plus, you guessed it, higher in protein) than regular ice cream.

Because Hood Cottage Cheese is an excellent source of protein, I noticed all three of these snacks left me feeling full (but not overly so) and energized, which isn’t the case with snacks I might usually choose (hi, popcorn).  I love that Hood has a variety for all tastes and snack-times of day and come in 7 convenient single serve options.  Hood Cottage Cheese can be found in dairy cases throughout New England, so head to your local grocery store to pick some up!
