DIY Uplifting Room Spray
May is Teacher Appreciation Month… and so I found myself staying up past my bedtime Monday night, filling twelve small bottles with a semi-magic potion for our kids’ preschool teachers, as one does. I thought I’d share the how-to for this DIY uplifting room spray here, because it’s a super easy project + would make a great gift for almost any occasion (I’m trying to imagine an inappropriate occasion… so…. that’s fun + a solid use of my time) .
You can play around with your favorite combinations of essential oils, and make custom blends for an energized morning, a restful sleep, and all the life that happens in between.
DIY UPLIFTING ROOM SPRAY
You’ll need:
- 2 oz. colbalt glass spray bottles
- Small funnel
- Distilled water (I used about 2 cups for 12 bottles)
- An emulsifier like witch hazel or vodka
- 30 drops of your favorite essential oils — I used 20 drops of citrus oils (grapefruit, sweet orange, lime, lemon) and 10 drops of peppermint for this uplifting room spray
Directions:
- Fill each bottle 1/3 of the way with emulsifier
- Add 30 drops of essential oils to each bottle
- Top off with distilled water and seal with spray cap
- Personalize with a label or ribbon (I love the look of these tiny alphabet stamps)
I usually stick with essential oils from Whole Foods Market + Aura Cacia (look for 100% pure oils… some of the stuff you can find online is 100% shady), but I know everyone has their favorites. Instead of mixing oils, you could use 30 drops of any proprietary blend that you love. I’m a big fan of Aura Cacia’s Chill Pill and Pillow Potion blends.
Speaking of… is it pillow potion time yet? I just extracted a popcorn kernel from one of my children’s noses. Imagine the things teachers do for our children… and they’re not even their children?! Angels among us. Angels who deserve so much more than room spray.
