Keeping our home safe with Fox Pest Control
This post is written in partnership with Fox Pest Control.
Yes, we’re really talking about pest control today. Being home as much as we are these days, we’ve been tackling lots of both long and short term projects– the lawn, a space in the basement for working out, a remote school set-up for Grace, fairy gardens, weirdo Halloween decorations, and everything in between.
Some of our projects have involved creating something new, but a lot of them have been for maintenance. We’re planning to be in our new-ish (it’s been nearly two years since we left the city!) house for a long time, so I know setting up maintenance systems now will pay off in the long run, and make our home more enjoyable in the short term. I didn’t even realize preventative pest control was a thing until we had a mouse in the house down the Cape and needed to call in the pros. With that behind us, I was thrilled when Fox Pest Control reached out to partner with services at our new house.
We had our first visit a couple of weeks ago, and will have quarterly visits to follow up. It was such a positive experience, and the work they did on our first visit and future visits will help ensure we have a safe, clean, uneventful (I mean… it’s 2020…. so you know what I mean) year ahead at home. The peace of mind alone (not to mention the lack of mouse-related meltdowns on my part) is well worth the investment.
What to expect from your first Fox Pest Control | Home Protection Plan visit:
- On the date of our scheduled first visit, our technician called ahead with a 30 minute notice of his arrival. He was right on time, was wearing a uniform, ID, and face mask, and kept a safe distance for the duration of our visit.
- Fortunately, we have had no indoor pest evidence at the new house, so our treatments were all outdoor. We went about our morning routine, while Devin did an inspection of the yard and perimeter of the house, and applied the appropriate treatments. He let us know once he was finished, and promptly sent along a summary of the visit.
- The visit summary arrived by email the same day and covered all the treatments performed and products used– Devin even made note of our late summer herb garden (our basil was out of control this year) and swing set, and took extra care around those areas. He patched several areas of our house with copper mesh to prevent any critters from getting in, and removed spiderwebs in several corners (the fake, not-so-creepy Halloween spider webs remain up). Everything he used was both safe for pets and people, and treatments like tick repellant actually make our yard safer for both.
- We have our next visit scheduled for later this week — again, with plenty of notice by phone — but had any issues arisen between visits, we knew we could easily reach out for assistance.
So far, we’ve been really impressed with both the quality of service and how safe we feel having Fox Pest Control visit during the pandemic. The peace of mind their Home Protection Plan is affording us is really invaluable. There’s plenty of other things to worry about (everyone’s health and safety during a pandemic, managing hybrid schooling and school-at-home, an impending election… plus the usual stressors and anxiety). I’m grateful to know our home is both in great shape, and in great hands.
If you can swing it, I highly recommend connecting with Fox Pest Control for preventative care and maintenance. Follow this link to save $75 on your first service.
And now back to the rest of that to do list… (currently playing catch up/referee on a week’s worth of remote first grade French assignments).
Also On Tap for Today:
- Sorting out our Halloween plans (we’re likely doing a treat hunt in the backyard for the kids, and maybe a scary-ish movie?)
- Stocking the freezer with some of my favorite lentil soup and veg chili
- Wondering where else I can hang some glittery purple spiders
What are your Halloween plans?
