I am fairly certain Target’s bullseye logo has hypnotic powers. It’s impossible to enter and exit that store having purchased only the Neosporin, Chobani, C2 sports bras (love those) and mouthwash you intended to buy. Target is where thoughtful shopping lists go to die, and where impulse shopping takes flight. I am tempted to start an in-store support group for people like me. It needs to meet as far from the office supply aisle as possible, though. I am sucker for cute binder clips. Or really, anything cute.
I recently learned that Target is headquartered in Minneapolis. When I head to the Twin Cities for HLS in September, I intend to knock on Target’s front door and demand answers to such questions as “How do you make everything so cute?” and “Really, tell the truth. Did you hypnotize me with your concentric red circles?” and “Can I have some coupons?” I will report back, I promise. I am nothing if not a lady of the Target shopping people.
A few recent favorite Target finds*
*none of which were on my list when I entered the store, and yes, I still participate in the charade of writing a list before going to Target
I found this adorable set of unlined notebooks near the garden section. I love to doodle and sketch when I need to unwind, and these pages are thick enough that my drawings of majestic French bulldogs don’t bleed through. They’re packaged perfectly for a gift.
Ceramic French bulldog bank
I have a problem when it comes to Frenchie things. You know this. You also now know where my fortune is hidden.
Memorex patterned CDs and DVDs, $6.99
I’ve been on a quest to organize and back-up six years of photos. Having somewhere nice-looking to put them helps.
Short paper straws
I like my fresh juice thick (bordering on chewy, sorry if that offends) and the usual straws often can’t handle my kale. I found these short and stout straws in the Valentine’s Day section a few months ago. Target knows how to do the holidays. Seasonal items (which immediately go on sale after the holiday) like these paper goods can often be carried over for showers and parties.
up & up binder clips
I use these for keeping cords coiled (and not a tangled mess), bags closed, pages marked, etc. As I mentioned before, the office supply area is a danger zone for my debit card.
Graphic wrapping paper
Yes, I stocked up on the Frenchie print. I love wrapping gifts almost as much as I like giving them.
(Cape Cod) Map print scarf, $14.99
The colors of this scarf were what first caught my attention. And then I saw that the nautical pattern was, in fact, a map of the Cape (my True North, even though it’s technically south east of Boston). It pairs great with a white teeshirt and jeans. And boat shoes.
For the record: This is not a sponsored post. Target is not aware that I exist. (As far as I know.) They do know the way to my heart wallet, however.

Gah, Target. I was there Saturday and actually did okay, but the office supply section is a tough one for me, too. I am addicted to buying those little notebooks.
Yesterday I went to Pier One looking for furniture, curtains, and rugs. I came home with Easter table decorations.

Haven’t been to target in forever–thanks for bringing the temptations to me via OnTap.

Ah, I do love Target and also have to steer clear of the office aisle and the accessory aisle or I will spend a fortune. This post is great (I love it about as much as Target, as a matter of fact). It put a huge smile on my face!

Oh… the “list” charade. I know it too well myself. Being back in the Midwest, I am getting sucked back into World Market (so many fun things!!!). And Petco. If I can walk out of there with spending $60 or less, it’s a miracle. Payton’s not spoiled at all.
