Today: Chowderfest (fun for the whole family, including the vegetarians).
[tweetmeme source=”elizabethev” only_single=false]This morning Nick and I strolled over to City Hall Plaza for the 30th annual Chowderfest. Like most good New Englanders, Nick is a big fan of clam chowder. I, on the other hand, am just in it for the oyster crackers. I did dress for the occassion, though.
While I admired my own outfit and people watched a bit, Nick sampled chowders from Clancy’s (one of our favorite restaurants on the Cape), Mr. Dooley’s, Anthem Kitchen and Bar, Jerry Remy’s, The Chart House and Ipswich Clambake Company. Knowing there would be voting at the end, Nick took his testing very seriously.
After careful consideration, it came down to a tie between Mr. Dooley’s (the perfect consistency) and Anthem Kitchen and Bar (the best overall taste). I was happy to offer up my vote, since I have no authority on the clamatter. Get it? …Clams? Cool. He dropped a vote for each restaurant in the ballot box and look forward to learning who won.
The event was very well run, well attended (but not too crowded), and a lot of fun. Even if you weren’t sampling. 🙂 Many thanks to the lovely people at Boston Harborfest for the complimentary tickets, and for generously giving two On Tap for Today friends a pair of tickets, as well. I hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did, Taryn and Tenley! Check out On Tap on Facebook for more photos of this fun, festive Boston tradition.
Also On Tap for Today:
- Picking up our bibs for tomorrow’s race
- Feed the Frenchie lots of watermellon 🙂
- Check out the Boston Harborfest website for more patriotic fun
Are you a fan of chowder? Who makes the best cup?

That’s it. If I have any money left after going to Greece this year I’m saving it up to come visit you next Summer.
And when I get there I’m stealing that dress. So CUTE!

Perfect dress! I’m more of a corn chowda lady myself – but this event looks awesome!
