Today: Let it snow. A lot.

Forgive me fellow, New Englanders, but I am wishing and hoping and praying for an epic snow storm.  I want to make a snow fort.  I want to drink hot chocolate from the comfort of my sofa in the middle of an otherwise normal weekday.  I really, really want a snow day.

For the first winter of my life, I have garaged parking.  And not just  garaged parking anywhere, garaged parking in South Boston, the land of the free and the home of the creative parking spot markers.  It’s like a one-item-per-parking-spot yard sale.  Except you get slapped if you buy anything.

Back to the garage situation.  This means no shoveling my car out.  It also means no slipping and somehow sliding halfway underneath my car, while shoveling it out.  Yes.  That really happened last winter.  It was weird, to say the least.  When we packed up to move into our condo, my busted orange plastic shovel got shoved directly into the dumpster recycling bin behind the apartment of my mid-twenties.  Peace out, bane of my existence.  (Why am I still writing about the shovel?)

How many times each winter do we get all crazed for an impending storm, only to wake to business (as in, no snow day… put on your business attire) as usual?  Many.  That’s how many.

So for once, weather people, I hope you’ve got it right.  I’ve got a kitchen stocked with perishables and non-perishables.  I have work that can be done from home.  I have multiple pairs of slipper socks and various Bravo TV shows on DVR.   By tomorrow evening, I want to be buried up to my boots in snow.  Ya hear me?

[Disclaimer:  I am not wishing for the negative effect of snowstorms, ok?  So please don’t blame any weather related accidents, downed power lines, or frostbites on me.  I beg you.]

Also On Tap for Today:

  • Bake another round of whole grain apple cinnamon muffins, mon.
  • The lovely folks at Stop and Shop emailed me this “get storm ready” checklist.  Does FEMA really recommend having hard candy on hand?

How would you spend your ideal Snow Day?

I have been reading about Mel’s snowmageddon and I am sooo wishing for one. It has been sunny for more than two days and although it feels good I wish for my own snowpocalypse. Maybe that after passing over Boston, the storm will come to Montreal ?
