2013 is just days away, and I am still driving a regular car.  When the heck are we getting spaceships to go with the rest of our cool gadgets?

I received an especially cute and useful gadget from h.h. gregg just before Christmas: a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor watch. While I haven’t firmly set my goals and resolutions for 2013 yet (you know me, Last Minute Larry), I know making the most of my workouts will be among them.  That’s one element of crossfit-ing that I know will help my running and other workouts.  When I am in the box, whether the WOD is 45 minutes or 10 minutes, I do my best to work as effectively and intensely as possible.  When I’m alone at the gym, or out on the road?  I tend to not push myself as hard.  After just a few runs wearing the FT4, I had a better sense of what it feels like to really (to quote Salt N Pepa) pa-pa-pa-push it, and what it feels like to sufficiently warm up and cool down (something else I tend to neglect when there’s not someone standing by bossing me around).
